ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer a vibrant, proactive program of legislative and political advocacy that protects members’ profession and leverages the collective influence of GPhA members.
Serve as GPhA’s primary political and public policy strategist, and advise CEO, Board of Directors, PharmPAC Board and Legislative Policy Committee on same.
Monitor and identify statutory and regulatory issues and trends affecting pharmacy for the purpose of educating members and influencing the regulation and conduct of the pharmacy business.
Direct and supervise GPhA’s external legislative consultant.
With the CEO, maintain key legislative and political relationships, and provide testimony and counsel to key legislative committees and groups.
Assure that GPhA’s information-gathering, trend-spotting, and research and analysis efforts are thorough and proactive, for the purpose of identifying prospective legislative issues, informing members and influencing the conduct of practitioners in Georgia.
Assure that CEO is timely and fully briefed on the substance of any GPhA legislative, regulatory or political issues, initiatives, or deliberations, and brief other stakeholders as directed by CEO.
Advise and assist the CEO in establishing collaborative relationships and coalitions with other entities having common interests in the pharmacy profession and healthcare in general.
Nurture effective collaborative working partnerships with fellow staff vice presidents and assure that implications and impacts of legislative, regulatory or political issues are featured appropriately in GPhA communications, training and outreach efforts.
Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with GPhA member leaders.
Administer PharmPAC, assuring a robust program of PAC fundraising and recognition.
Partner with Director of Communication to assure timely and actionable legislative and political communication to members.
Working in conjunction with Legislative Policy Committee identifies options and implications for Board consideration and action regarding public positions and endorsements regarding legislative and regulatory issues.
Serve as staff liaison to Legislative Policy Committee and PharmPAC Board, and other groups as assigned.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the Association.
While performing any procedure, all associates must observe applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines.
Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
Adhere to appropriate Association operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.

JOB SCOPE:

Job has recurring work but involves high degrees of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of resources is high. Errors in judgment will waste resources and adversely impact Association performance. Incumbent operates independently but work is verified. Content of work priorities are determined by supervision.

Education and Experience

College degree or equivalent experience, paralegal or JD degree preferred.
In-depth knowledge of organization, processes and procedures or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of Georgia political process.s
Prior experience representing an association preferred.

Salary: $135,000.00 to $145,000.00 /year
