| The General Counsel oversees all legal functions supporting multifamily real estate operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations while proactively managing and minimizing risk. This role requires a strategic legal leader who can effectively navigate complex legal matters, provide guidance on real estate transactions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance organizational objectives and strategic initiatives. Multifamily General Counsel Location: Columbia, MO Job Type: Full time JOB DUTIES: Legal Strategy: Develop and implement legal strategies that align with the company’s multifamily real estate objectives. Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards related to real estate development, leasing, and property management. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with property acquisitions, financing, and operations. Transaction Support: Provide legal support for real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leases, and financing agreements. Litigation Management: Oversee any litigation or disputes involving the company, collaborating with outside counsel as needed. Corporate Governance: Manage corporate governance matters, including board meetings, minutes, and compliance documentation. Policy Development: Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance within the organization. Training: Conduct training sessions for employees on legal matters relevant to multifamily real estate, including fair housing laws and lease agreements. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, including development, finance, and property management, to promote legal and ethical business practices. QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school 10+ years of experience as in-house counsel or in a law firm, with a focus on real estate law, particularly in the multifamily sector Strong understanding of real estate transactions, property management, leasing, and compliance Proven ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic legal advice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Must provide list of 2-3 professional references Multifamily General Counsel $50/hour Alexander Forrest Investments 87949 |
