Legal Services Director / Managing Attorney Location: Seattle, WA Job Type: Full time What You’ll Do: As the Legal Services Director / Managing Attorney at ReWA, you’ll provide strategic leadership and oversight of ReWA’s immigration legal services program, ensuring high quality, ethical, and accessible legal support for immigrant communities. Your work will span leadership, supervision, and program development, including: Legal Leadership & Strategy: Set the vision and direction for the immigration legal services program, aligning services with community needs and organizational goals Establish program priorities, service models, and case acceptance guidelines Stay current on immigration law and policy changes, ensuring the team is informed and responsive Identify opportunities to expand services or launch new initiatives to increase access to legal representation Team Leadership & Case Oversight: Supervise attorneys, DOJ-accredited representatives, paralegals, and program staff Provide mentorship, legal guidance, and case strategy support across the team Review and approve legal filings, applications, and motions as needed Support staff handling complex or high-risk immigration cases Ensure adherence to deadlines, case management protocols, and best practices Quality Assurance & Compliance: Lead quality control efforts, including case reviews and file audits, to ensure consistent, high-quality representation Ensure compliance with professional responsibility standards, DOJ Recognition & Accreditation requirements, and organizational policies Manage legal risk, including conflicts of interest and confidentiality standards Maintain and strengthen policies and procedures across the legal program Staff Development & Training: Provide ongoing training and professional development for legal staff and accredited representatives Support staff pursuing DOJ accreditation and career growth opportunities Mentor attorneys, fellows, interns, and volunteers Program Operations & Organizational Collaboration: Oversee program policies, case management systems, and service delivery processes Monitor caseloads, outcomes, and program performance Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, resource allocation, and financial sustainability of the legal program Contribute legal expertise to broader organizational initiatives impacting immigrant communities Community Engagement & Partnerships: Represent ReWA in legal networks, coalitions, and community partnerships Build relationships with community organizations, service providers, and pro bono legal partners Support outreach and education efforts related to immigration rights Other duties as assigned You will bring: An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort owning and building a program from the ground up Strong operational and business acumen, with the ability to run a legal program efficiently and sustainably Comfort balancing mission driven work with financial sustainability, including making decisions that support long term program viability A leadership style that balances accountability, structure, and compassion Confidence making decisions and setting direction in an evolving environment A collaborative approach when working with multidisciplinary, multicultural teams Qualifications include: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Active bar membership (Washington bar not required; must be eligible to practice before federal immigration courts/agencies) 6 to 8+ years of legal experience, ideally including immigration law Leadership or supervisory experience within a legal setting Experience managing workflows, caseloads, or legal operations Ability to pass a pre-employment background check Strongly valued experience: Experience running or helping manage a legal business, practice, or program Background in a corporate or private practice environment, bringing a focus on efficiency and process improvement Experience building systems, processes, or new service offerings Preferred: Experience in immigration law (preferred, but not required if paired with strong operational leadership) Experience working with diverse or immigrant communities Multilingual abilities Legal Services Director / Managing Attorney $145,000 - $185,000 Refugee Women’s Alliance 87958 |
