| We are seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing a diverse workload. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with a collegial team of attorneys, as well as legal teams across multiple departments within the organization. Deputy General Counsel 54652 Location: Waterbury, VT Job Type: Full time Key responsibilities: Include providing legal counsel on complex state and federal laws and regulations, supporting contract and grant negotiations, overseeing litigation matters, analyzing proposed legislation, and handling a range of short- and long-term legal projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Admission to the Vermont Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible legal experience. Preferred Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. • Proven ability to develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal law. • Knowledge of legal and policy issues relevant to human services. • Familiarity with public records, including VT. • Written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical legal guidance to both legal and non-legal audiences. • Understanding of the role of an organizational attorney. Compensation: Salary Range is $46.37 ($96,450) hourly to $64.47 hourly ($134,098)* *or up to Department/Agency Head's Salary.
