| An Office of University General Counsel at a public university in Florida is seeking an Associate General Counsel based in Boca Raton, FL. Reporting to the General Counsel, this position provides comprehensive legal counsel and strategic guidance across a broad range of higher education matters, including transactional agreements, litigation, and regulatory compliance. The role serves as a key advisor to university leadership on legal rights, obligations, and risk management, while also supporting the development and implementation of institutional policies. Responsibilities include managing litigation and administrative proceedings, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners, and ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws. This position plays an important role in supporting institutional governance and the effective operation of the university and its governing board. Associate General Counsel REQ22097 Location: Boca Raton, FL Job Type: Full time Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for managing university litigation and administrative law matters, including coordinating with the State’s Division of Risk Management on the selection and assignment of outside counsel, overseeing discovery, trial preparation, mediation, and settlement negotiations. Provides legal advice to the Division of Student Affairs on a variety of issues related to student discipline, crisis response, academics, financial matters, residency, contracts, international programs, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, free speech, and religious accommodations. Supervises the University’s processes for subpoena responses and document production and advises institutional clients on compliance with Florida’s public records laws and Federal privacy laws. Serves as a liaison to the University Police Department, the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX, Public Affairs, and the University’s Risk Manager. Appears and attends at court and mediation as necessary. Performs other job-related duties as required or deemed appropriate.
