| We are seeking an attorney with at least three years of relevant legal experience to serve as Associate Counsel in the Office of Investigations. The Office of Investigations handles complaints against licensees, investigates matters that may involve potential practice violations, and coordinates with board consultants and staff attorneys to review investigations and determine whether formal discipline is warranted. ASSOCIATE COUNSEL Location: Nashville, TN Job Type: Full time Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary legal point of contact for the investigators of the Office of Investigations. Provide legal guidance to investigators and leadership on matters involving professional practice acts, administrative procedures, and investigative processes. Participate in case reviews, offering legal insight on investigative outcomes, proposed actions, and regulatory considerations. Act as the Pain Management Clinic Inspection advisory attorney, advising on statutory compliance, inspection protocols, and regulatory interpretation. Respond to subpoenas, ensuring timely and legally compliant production of records and information. Work with the Office of General Counsel to assist with Public Records Act requests related to investigative files. Regularly work with attorneys from the Office of General Counsel. Work with other state agencies as required. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Tennessee Law License. Graduated from an accredited law school with a J.D. At least 3 years of relevant experience in the practice of law. Excellent research and writing skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Westlaw. Ability to make timely and effective decisions in keeping with the goals and mission of the department. No prior or pending disciplinary actions with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Salary: The position comes with full state employment benefits, including health insurance, at least 11 paid holidays, 12 paid vacation days, and 12 paid sick days per year.
