General Counsel Overview
Stay Alfred is looking for a General Counsel to serve as a key member of our executive leadership team in Spokane, WA, reporting directly to the President.
The General Counsel will be responsible for leading our legal and contracts team and providing advice and support in a variety of substantive areas, with an emphasis on real estate matters. This position will be an integral part of Stay Alfred’s growth and continued success.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Structure, draft, and review a wide variety of contracts and agreements across a growing domestic portfolio, and involvement in the negotiation of master lease agreements.
Understand and identify trends in the federal, state and local legislative and regulatory landscape affecting the short-term-rental and hospitality market
Provide legal advice and support for corporate financing transactions (debt and equity), stock option and benefit plans, corporate governance, M&A, commercial transactions, IP licensing, and international business.
Help lead the acquisition of new businesses, including participating in due diligence reviews and negotiations of pertinent agreements.
Manage relationships with external subject matter experts and outside counsel.
Proactively and creatively evaluate risk factors impacting business decisions and anticipate changes that could impact the company.
Serve as a strategic thought partner, legal advisor, and team member to Stay Alfred regarding real estate, land use, and regulatory compliance as well as business strategy, risk management, and human capital.
Lead the Stay Alfred Legal team to effectively serve the organization’s needs, including the development of templates and client-facing materials to drive greater internal efficiencies for legal and business teams.
Experience & Qualifications
J.D. degree and membership in a least one U.S. state bar
7+ years of legal experience in the commercial real estate, technology and/or e-commerce industries
Experience in real estate master residential leasing, permitting, zoning, financing, acquisitions, dispositions, development, and financing
Experience assisting companies with raising capital (debt & equity)
Demonstrated ability to work with and manage outside counsel and deal with internal clients at many different levels within an organization
Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high-performance team
Demonstrated ability to thrive in situations where complex issues require in-depth analysis, evaluation, and partnership to achieve positive outcomes
Passionate about continuous learning and applying insights to new situations
A model of professional ethics and with the highest degree of personal integrity
Comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid growth
