Due to the rapid growth of the organization, 6 Degrees Health is looking for the right candidate to join our team as a General Counsel, Compliance at our Hillsboro, OR location. Job Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and operations activities in the heavily regulated healthcare Corporate Compliance Program.
Oversee and ensure HIPAA/HITECH and other regulatory compliance-related activities, including the development and implementation of regular compliance training and education.
Identify and research new laws, regulations, and expectations implemented at the local, state, and federal level, and assess gaps to bring 6 Degrees Health and its products into compliance with new compliance legislation.
Oversee the process to receive and resolve complaints and concerns; investigate and remediate systemic problems that are identified.
Develop and manage policies and processes to respond to allegations of improper or illegal activities.
Facilitate the performance of periodic compliance risk-based assessments; review the content and performance of the Compliance Program on a continuing basis, and take appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
Collaborate with executive leadership including Legal Counsel on risk management initiatives.
Qualifications
JD Degree from an accredited law program. 5+ years progressive legal experience, including 3+ years in-house as a Corporate Counsel or Senior Corporate Counsel
Registered with the Oregon State Bar
Ability to be a self-starter and work independently;
Ability to effectively adapt in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Functions
Must have the ability to read and understand various legal documentation and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Must be willing and able to work a 5-day schedule and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled shift to cover vacancies, if necessary.
Must be able to sit or stand for two hours at a time.
Must be able to operate electronic devices (computers, printers, etc) to support document management, office machines, ordering, scheduling, phones, social media and various forms of computer software.
Utilize and support equipment at different workstations as needs require, or shift from one station to another.
