Outposts are located within about a two-hour drive of major metro cities—far enough to disconnect but close enough for a spontaneous escape. Getaway currently operates four outposts outside New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington, DC.
Getaway is seeking a General Counsel (Real Estate) to ensure compliance and favorable deal terms while driving rapid expansion. General Counsel will be responsible for purchase & sale agreements, underwriting equipment financing, vendor contracts, and overseeing contractor development agreements.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive understanding of Real Estate law with specific experience in a multi-unit high growth deal making environment, energized by diving into the details of local compliance nuances, and can confidently lead the drafting and negotiating of leases and purchase and sale agreements. The ability to adapt and function with a rapidly growing organization is a crucial attribute to this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and contribute to the structuring, origination and securitization of commercial real estate transactions
Prepare and negotiate lease agreements, amendments, service contracts, construction contracts and other agreements.
Confidently and independently draft and negotiate real property leases and purchase & sale agreements
Providing counsel to the Real Estate department on legal matters impacting their responsibilities, including commercial leasing, operations and property management.
Reviewing title commitments, due diligence items such as surveys, legal descriptions of land, easements, environmental reports, and other regulatory matters related to securing use and construction approvals
Tracking and incorporation of SPEs related to individual real estate transactions

QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctorate with New York State bar admission. Multi-state bar admission preferred
6+ years as a practicing attorney in the Real Estate field, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as in-house General Counsel
3+ years of Real Estate real estate deal making experience with various types of properties including raw land, ground leases, and improved land
Significant experience with negotiating debt financing contracts
Extensive underwriting experience for a Real Estate entity (including vendor contracts that require equipment financing)
Deep understanding of equipment financing and general business contracting experience
Expert knowledge of negotiating, and closing, complex land deals, intercreditor agreements, navigating regulatory processes and approvals on the state and municipal level
Extensive experience with global business contract negotiations preferred
Experience negotiating construction contracts for development of land
Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and passion for results.

At Getaway HQ, in Downtown Brooklyn. Open to remote workers for the right candidate.
