The Company –

The Position -
LeapTheory is looking for a team-oriented general counsel to join and take the lead on our legal team. We utilize a variety of online marketing methods and techniques to generate traffic and it will be your job to ensure that these practices comply with applicable regulations. You will also be asked to review contracts and participate in contract negotiation while working closely with the executive team and account managers to understand relevant business implications.
Experience with State and Federal consumer protection laws (TCPA and CAN-SPAM, as an example)
Experience with FTC, CFPB, FCC and other federal agencies and the guidelines they set
5+ Years of experience with corporate or compliance law
Experience in the online marketing or advertising space is a plus
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Team-oriented attitude
Bar licensed in California
Comfortable with public speaking is a plus
In-house experience is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Primary responsibilities will include –
Develop and oversee in-house compliance programs and risk-assessments
Coordinate closely with the executive team
Respond quickly to day to day issues often requiring quick thinking, multi-tasking and wearing multiple hats
Help oversee compliance and regulatory trainings of all employees of the company
Assist with website and marketing material review to ensure all advertising materials are compliant
Coordinate and collaborate with outside counsel
Attend industry compliance and regulatory events to understand current events in the industry
Contract review, negotiation and maintenance
Regularly review recent case law and major decisions pertaining to industry in order to always maintain an up to date regulatory understanding
The Qualifications -
The rock-star candidate we are looking for should have the following qualifications -
Experience:
Corporate Law: 5 years (Preferred)
Online Marketing Law: 3 years (Preferred)
