Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent, and JD with active Bar membership
Minimum of 7 years of experience as in-house counsel, with eDiscovery experience
Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Improvement, and Lean Six Sigma, with other quality and process improvement methodologies a plus
Effective presentation and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and writing skills
Results oriented with focus on achieving overall business objectives
Proven ability to successfully manage projects with tight time, cost, and quality targets
Effective in influencing and leading without direct line management authority
Ability to see the “big picture” and be proactive
Excellent communication skills
Interest to helping build teams and sharing knowledge and skills with co-worker
Overview
This role is a multidisciplinary leadership position that requires a combination of in-house counsel, strategic leadership, product development, and thought leadership. As a member of the executive team, you will work with other members of this team to create strategic and tactical plans to best serve the company’s growing market initiatives from a legal perspective. You will work with the Sales and Marketing teams to contract consulting opportunities, assist in market positioning, help to define new product offerings, and long-term company strategy through a legal lens. You will work with other members of NightOwl’s Consulting, Financial and Business Development teams and lead the processes related to Privacy, Governance, and other legal needs of a rapidly growing company. As General Counsel, you will participate in the overall strategic management process of NightOwl’s internal legal road-map and engage in industry thought leadership. This position has a direct reporting relationship to NightOwl’s CEO and President, as well as peer reporting relationships to the Chief Client Officer, Director of Global Business Development, and CFO. Relocation to Minnesota headquarters is not mandatory; however, frequent travel is required to be successful in this position.
Compensation
Compensation is a combination of base salary, bonus, and commission. NightOwl offers a highly competitive benefits package with space for professional growth. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
