Position: General Counsel for a Bay Area Real Estate Developer
Position Type: Full Time (minimum 40 hours per week)
Position Reports To: President and CFO
Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, letters of intent, acquisitions documents, construction contracts, architectural agreements, development agreements and loan documents involving a variety of sources of financing.
Review and update corporate governance policies and regularly monitor ensure ongoing compliance.
Identify and evaluate various risk factors regarding real estate transactions;
Identify potential legal issues concerning operations and advise management accordingly.
Overseeing legal staff and manage outside counsel as needed.
Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, city planners, outside counsel, etc.);
Requirements
Minimum 8 years of relevant legal counsel experience
JD from an ABA accredited law school and a member in good standing of the California state bar
Thorough understanding of construction and California land use law.
First-hand experience with the real estate acquisition due diligence process and subsequent land entitlement.
Able to work independently
Outstanding communication skills
