Job Summary: Levity Entertainment Group is seeking an experienced Counsel to provide legal guidance and support across our divisions. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a company primarily focused on unscripted television and production.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance and support to all divisions within Levity Entertainment Group (Production, Live, and Talent) on contracts, intellectual property, distribution agreements, risk management, and guild requirements.
Negotiate, review, and comment on a wide range or production related agreement.
Review deal memos, service agreements, employment/vendor agreements for every position within the production space (Line Producers, Executive Producers, Casting Directors, Graphic Designers to name a few).
Create and coordinate location agreements, stage and production office lease agreements, and equipment leasing.
Track all production legal deliverables (e.g. cue sheets, W9, guild checklists, corporation formation documents, Safe Harbor letters.)
Partner with the Legal team to draft and negotiate agreements for production services, clip licenses, music synch licenses, copyright licenses, and any other service agreements as needed.
Assist in providing copyright and trademark clearance analysis for productions.
Minimum Qualifications:
JD Degree and a member of the California State Bar in good standing.
2+ years of experience as Counsel for a Production company.
Must be polished, professional, friendly.
Ability to multitask, and take initiative in a fast-paced, high pressure, deadline driven environment.
Strong computer and communication skills (both written and verbal) with a high proficiency in Word and Workshare Compare or other redlining software.
Excel at attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking.
Excellent drafting and writing skills.
