Director/Senior Director of Privacy
The Privacy role is a new position for the company and has oversight of the Data Privacy Program. Reporting to the Vice President of Legal, this position involves training senior executives and employees of the company on state and federal compliance and data privacy requirements. This is your chance to create, implement and oversee a compliance and data privacy program in a progressive and dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance and Data Privacy Program across CareDx; Manages day-to-day operation of this program • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance and data privacy related topics • Builds and maintains effective working relationships within and outside of CareDx • Consults and collaborates with departments on compliance and privacy related questions, specifically for contracts and BAA’s • Serves as an expert on compliance and data privacy for the company, providing education and training on HIPAA • Monitors the performance of the Compliance and Data Privacy Program on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness • Performs routine privacy compliance monitoring activities by conducting or directing internal audits to ensure company-wide compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other data privacy regulations • Develops and maintains a HIPAA-compliant data privacy program and policies, including conducting risk analysis and creating HIPAA-compliant procedures as needed • Organizes Compliance Committee meetings and communicates the outcome to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors • Rolls out and maintains training and education for compliance and data privacy across the organization; Maintains appropriate levels of communication with employees • Coordinates the independent review and evaluation of the Data Privacy Program to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved • Evaluates all reports of non-compliant activities; Investigates and reports incidences of potential data breaches or non-compliance
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• JD preferred but not required
• 7+ years of relevant experience
• Prior experience in the diagnostics, biotech, medical device or pharmaceutical industries preferred
• Working knowledge and understanding of regulations pertaining to Healthcare Compliance (False Claims, Stark, etc.)
• Knowledge of international and local privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA
• Thorough working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the HITECH Act, and familiarity with state laws concerning the privacy and security of personal and health information
• Genetic testing and health data experience preferred
