Compliance Officer Function:
The Compliance Officer role has over site for the CareDx Corporate Compliance and Data Privacy Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance and privacy related topics and questions within the organization. This position will report to the VP Legal. The position entails education of all employees on compliance and data privacy requirements by ensuring that company policies and procedures are followed and to ensure that the organization stays in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. This is your chance to create a compliance and data privacy program in a progressive and dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
Develops, initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance and Data Privacy Program across CareDx. Manages day-to-day operation of these programs.
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance and data privacy related topics. Building and maintaining effective working relationships.
Consults and collaborates with departments on compliance and privacy related questions, specifically for contracts and BAA’s.
Serve as an expert on compliance and data privacy for the Company, providing education and training on HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, including but not limited to the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, Federal False Claims Act, global privacy laws and state specific rules and regulations.
Monitors the performance of the Compliance and Data Privacy Program on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
Perform routine privacy compliance monitoring activities by performing or directing internal audits to ensure company-wide compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other data privacy regulations.
Developing and maintaining a HIPAA-compliant data privacy program and policies, including conducting risk analysis and creating HIPAA-compliant procedures as needed.
Organizes Compliance Committee meetings and communicates the outcome to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
Rolls out and maintains training and education for compliance and data privacy across the organization. Maintains appropriate levels of communication with employees.
Coordinates the independent review and evaluation of the Compliance and Data Privacy Program to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
Evaluates all reports of non-compliant activities. Investigating and reporting incidences of potential data breaches or non-compliance.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare or J.D. preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required
10 years’ minimum experience in Healthcare or relevant biotech or medical device industry.
Genetic testing and health data experience preferred.
Working knowledge and understanding of regulations pertaining to Healthcare Compliance (False Claims, Stark, etc.)
Knowledge of international and local privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA
Thorough working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the HITECH Act, and to be familiar with state laws concerning the privacy and security of personal and health information.
