Position Overview
Provide legal protection and services to the company, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization. Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues. Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department and across all businesses. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with issues like employment contracts, promissory notes, property interests, government regulations, trademarks, and other legal issues
Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals
Prepare documentation to external counsel on behalf of company in the case of a lawsuit or other legal proceedings
Negotiating, writing and executing agreements and contracts on behalf of the company
Advising executives within the company
Working alongside other departments within the company
Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the company
Reviewing advertising and marketing materials to ensure in compliance with legal requirements
Providing training to the company on legal topics
Required Skills
Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment
Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
Experience with corporate governance issues
Education & Experience
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Must be licensed in the state of Mississippi
