Associate General Counsel, Energy and Regulatory

We are seeking a highly motivated and practical attorney to join our team as Associate General Counsel, Energy and Regulatory. In this role, the individual will report to our General Counsel and be responsible for all energy and regulatory matters, working with business teams across our leading energy management company.
Job Responsibilities:
• Oversight of energy-related regulatory compliance for all aspects of the company’s unique business model.
• Analysis of state licensing requirements where the business model does not line-up with traditional roles, such as an aggregator, marketer, broker, etc.
• Completion of applications/filings for required licenses.
• Establishment and oversight of ongoing compliance requirements related to licenses and exemptions.
• Advise management team on critical regulatory requirements, deadlines, and opportunities.
• Negotiation of competitive supply, community solar and other energy contracts.
• Advice on renewable energy strategies and projects.
• Review and advise on compliance with utility incentive programs.
• Generally, stay knowledgeable about regulatory trends and advise senior management on government-relations and policy-making initiatives.
• Position may also have responsibility for other contract, regulatory, litigation management and corporate legal matters, as times permits.

Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor and admitted to practice in at least one State currently.
• Five or more years’ experience in energy industry, preferably relevant experience with energy regulators.
• Knowledge of energy law and utility regulation.
• Experience with commercial contracting.
Job Location: Shelton, Connecticut (company headquarters), but remote work a possibility.
