This position will have direct responsibility for all legal matters affecting the company. This role provides high quality legal advice to senior management with effective company strategies.
Job Functions and Duties:
Manage employee regulatory compliance for large behavioral health organization
Work closely with other members of management and HR when necessary
Manage complaints and concerns regarding conducting investigations as necessary
Assist HR with advising on ethical and legal conflicts between employee, patients, families and healthcare providers
Analyzing and advising on regulatory requirements and guidance and translating that information into institutional policy and/or actionable guidance
Advising on adult, pediatric and behavioral health patient related matters such as treatment, refusal and consent to treatment issues
Advising on state, federal and other agencies’ requirements for medical records
Advising on all medical staff legal matters
Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials such as major contracts, business plans and policies and procedures
Assists, advises and consults with subsidiary management on legal aspects of health care delivery organization
Assists and advises subsidiary management and associate on medicolegal issues involving patient care, medical records requests, consent issues, medical staff disciplinary actions and by-laws
Develop policies and practices to ensure that all business units are in compliance with reporting regulations
Track laws and regulations that might affect the organization’s policies and implement necessary changes
Maintain high degree of confidentiality
Qualifications:
Law degree from an accredited university
10+ years of advising healthcare providers on healthcare operation matters, including patient care issues, privacy and security matters, medical staff matters, graduate medical education and compliance with anti-kickback and fraud and abuse regulatory requirements
Broad legal experience with exposure to all facets of law with a particular concentration in health care law
This is a part-time position working one day per week on an as need basis.
