| *Draft, review and negotiate (with the assistance of outside counsel, as appropriate) various contracts, including vendor and customer agreements, strategic partnerships and acquisitions, and financing documents. *Create, improve and maintain legal forms, policies and processes to standardize and streamline legal support on certain repeatable processes (e.g., NDAs, commercial contracts, legal holds) – including the utilization of technology and vendors where appropriate. *With the assistance of outside counsel, as needed, advise the business on applicable laws and regulations in a wide range of legal matters (e.g., IP, marketing, data privacy, employment, compliance) and provide related practical guidance About Us Odeko is on a mission to champion your neighborhood cafes, coffee shops, and other establishments through technology. Our legal team plays an integral role in these efforts, overseeing legal and risk management efforts across the entire company. We are looking for a Corporate Counsel to join our growing team. Initially reporting directly to the General Counsel, you’ll assist with a range of legal matters to help Odeko grow strategically and thoughtfully in all facets of its business, including commercial contracts, financing, and strategic partnerships and acquisitions. You’ll also work directly with the General Counsel to build out processes that will enable the department to scale effectively. You’ll probably love this role if: You enjoy thinking strategically, but you also enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting stuff done You operate, or aspire to operate, as a generalist and are looking to broaden your existing legal skill set You’re looking for a team and company that will invest in your professional development and growth You’re comfortable operating in a high-growth startup environment, and are also excited about the challenge of preparing a startup for eventually operating as a public company How you’ll make an impact: Draft, review and negotiate (with the assistance of outside counsel, as appropriate) various contracts, including vendor and customer agreements, strategic partnerships and acquisitions, and financing documents Create, improve and maintain legal forms, policies and processes to standardize and streamline legal support on certain repeatable processes (e.g., NDAs, commercial contracts, legal holds) – including the utilization of technology and vendors where appropriate With the assistance of outside counsel, as needed, advise the business on applicable laws and regulations in a wide range of legal matters (e.g., IP, marketing, data privacy, employment, compliance) and provide related practical guidance Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and manage legal risks and ensure alignment with legal and business objectives About you: J.D. from an ABA accredited law school Membership in good standing in at least one state bar (CA or NY preferred) 3+ years of relevant legal experience (willing to consider exceptional candidates with fewer years) A mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred Prior experience in general transactional or corporate matters required Proven ability to learn on the job and adapt to constantly evolving priorities Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Eagerness to grow professionally This is an L6 role. Compensation is between $150,000 - $190,000.
