General Counsel
\nNational IAM Benefit Trust Fund – Washington, DC<\/a> <\/p>\n

National IAM Benefit Trust Fund, headquartered in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced employee benefits attorney with excellent managerial skills. As Fund Counsel, you will oversee all legal aspects of the Fund while working under the direction of the Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
\n\u2022\ufeffEnsures compliance with government regulation
\n\u2022Ensures plan benefits are paid in accordance to plan documents
\n\u2022Monitors and ensures all government filings\/reports are completed as required and documents and notices are distributed timely to plan participants
\n\u2022Represents the Board of Trustees in contacts with governmental agencies
\n\u2022Acts as resource for Fund staff on all aspects of legal compliance
\n\u2022Advises Trustees on fiduciary issues
\n\u2022Provides Trustees legal education
\n\u2022Corresponds with contributing employers on legal issues
\n\u2022Corresponds with plan participants and\/or their attorneys on legal issues
\n\u2022Drafts and reviews contracts
\n\u2022Researches proposed and existing legislation affecting the Fund and advises Trustees and departments concerned
\n\u2022Reviews Forms 5500 and 990
\n\u2022Gives legal advice with respect to Fund administration
\n\u2022Consults\/advises on Plan compliance matters
\n\u2022Advises Trustees and other parties on changes in laws and regulations
\n\u2022Drafts and updates procedures
\n\u2022Drafts and updates plan document, trust agreement and SPDs
\n\u2022Reviews SMMs and other required plan notices, and drafts as necessary
\n\u2022Responds to HIPAA legal questions
\n\u2022Reviews and updates HIPAA Procedures Handbook on regular basis
\n\u2022Recommends legal action when necessary
\n\u2022Prepares RFPs and RFP summaries
\n\u2022Reviews delinquency letters
\n\u2022Responds to requests for documentation
\n\u2022Drafts Board of Trustee\u2019s agenda
\n\u2022Drafts legal documents for Board of Trustee\u2019s meetings
\n\u2022Review\u2019s Board of Trustee\u2019s minutes
\n\u2022Updates eligibility guidelines
\n\u2022Gathers and researches data for litigation and negotiations<\/p>\n

Qualifications:
\n\u2022Juris Doctor degree with strong academic credentials
\n\u2022Bar admission in Washington, DC
\n\u20227+ years of legal experience with all aspects of health and welfare plans, with at least five years\u2019 experience working with multiemployer health and welfare plans
\n\u2022In-depth knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and IRC
\n\u2022Proven managerial\/leadership skills
\n\u2022Excellent research and writing skills
\n\u2022Litigation experience working on fiduciary issues, benefit denials, collections, and withdrawal
\n\u2022liability is desired
\n\u2022Understanding of basic principles of labor relations, related labor laws and employment law preferred<\/p>\n
